Uninterested women may inadvertently display the same sexy signals, says study author Cari Goetz, Ph.D. candidate. So how can you discern who’s up for a little fun?
Pay close attention to these subtle distinctions between “I’m having fun” and “I’m hot for you”:
She’s the life of the party
Of course you’re attracted, who wouldn’t be? But analyze her group of gal pals before moving in, advises Brandy Engler, Ph.D., a Los Angeles sex therapist. If her clique seems closed off—only making eye contact with each other, dancing in a tight cluster—they’re not interested. Women who walk back and forth across the bar surveying the room are likely the ladies looking for more than a girls’ night out.
She’s wearing tight or revealing clothing
A mini skirt and stilettos doesn’t automatically mean hookup material. In fact, oftentimes women just strut their stuff because the extra attention feels nice, says Engler. But if she’s displaying both her legs and her breasts, that’s a potential clue she’s on the prowl, she notes.
She gives you the “come hither” look
This is one of the strongest green lights a woman can send, says Engler. Match her seductive stare with a ballsy hello. Introduce yourself, offer to buy her a drink, and let her know she’s the most alluring woman in the room.
